Determination of Copper Foil Surface Roughness from Micro-section Photographs

Specification and control of surface roughness of copper conductors within printed circuit boards (PCBs) are increasingly desirable in multi-GHz designs as a part of signal-integrity failure analysis on high-speed PCBs. The development of a quality-assurance method to verify the use of foils with specified roughness grade during the PCB manufacturing process is also important (...)

This paper describes a method by which the surface roughness of a metal foil or conductor layer with in a PCB may be determined from a microsectioned sample of the same. A small, non-functional area, e.g. a corner of the PCB, can be removed, and the surface roughness of the circuit layers can be assessed without impairing the function of the PCB.

Your Company Listing on SMTnet as a Mini Website

This week's internet marketing article is the first part of explaining to you why it is important for your company to take advantage of its listing on SMTnet.com.

First, for those of you who are not aware that you can have a free company listing on SMTnet, here is an example company listing. (You can register your own company here » )

Your listing on SMTnet will enhance your companies' internet presence and expand your reach in search engines. In addition to being in front of the thousands of engineers who visit SMTnet on a regular basis, your company will also expand its reach in front of the engineers that are searching for solutions to their problems in search engines. Your listing on SMTnet includes a product and service catalog that helps your company accomplish this goal.

Here is an example -> I decided to search for a product from Kyzen on Google. After looking at Kyzen's listing on SMTnet, I searched for Kyzen's "Ionox 13302 Semi-Aqueous Cleaning Solvent" on Google and found that Kyzen & SMTnet had the TOP 4 results...

While the search engine results inherently explain some of the value, let's make sure that it is understood that Kyzen now shows 4 of the top 10 results for that search rather than only 2 results from their own website. 40% vs. 20% is DOUBLE the exposure and DOUBLE the chance a user will click a result that leads to Kyzen's info rather than one of the other results on the first page of search engine results that do not lead directly to Kyzen's product information.
