From the questions that I am asked from week to week, there are a number of key differentiating factors for tooling classes. They could be considered the headings of a decision matrix, where the tooling options are rows and the following items are column headings.

1. Cost 2. Effectiveness 3. Flexibility 4. Operator / Engineer intervention 5. Accuracy / Repeatability 6. Machine unproductive time due to setup
