IMAPS 2006 to Feature Three Regionally-Focused Plenary Sessions.

Jun 20, 2006

IMAPS 2006 - the 39th International Symposium on Microelectronics - to be held October 8-12, 2006, at the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, CA, will offer three separate plenary sessions, in addition to 200+ technical sessions, 16 Professional Development Courses, and 50 posters, that will focus on key international industries located on the Pacific Coast and in the Southwest US.

These sessions are:

  • Wireless, RF and Telecommunications will include technologies for products such as cell phones and base stations.
  • Bio-Medical will focus on those technologies for medical uses such as implantable devices and diagnostic machines and imaging.
  • Military and Homeland Security will feature the latest research and development result for implementations such as all types of radar systems, bio-detection systems, weapons, etc.

Each session will begin with a Keynote Address by an OEM or product manufacturer who will present the vision for that industry and emerging technologies worldwide. An international slate of speakers will then present new and advanced solutions that support these technologies. These sessions are in addition to the traditionally-superb technical program IMAPS always produces at its symposia.

"Our goal is to draw attention to the specific industries on the Pacific Coast and in the Southwest by introducing the latest and most advanced research and development currently underway that will directly benefit these industries, and offer the full spectrum of technical papers that we traditionally present," stated Steve Adamson of Asymtek, General Chair of the IMAPS 2006 Steering Committee.

The International Microelectronics And Packaging Society (IMAPS) is the largest society dedicated to the advancement and growth of microelectronics and electronics packaging. Our Society offers 69 chapters around the globe, creating global networks of more than 4,000 members in the United States and an additional 4,000 members throughout Europe and Asia. Under its 4-tier technical model, IMAPS produces numerous publications, workshops, and international conferences and exhibitions that address everything in electronics between the chip and the system.
