IPC, HKPCA Reschedule International Exhibition for PCB and Assembly Industries

Jun 05, 2003

NORTHBROOK, Ill., June 4, 2003IPCAssociation Connecting Electronics Industries and Hong Kong Printed Circuit Association (HKPCA) have rescheduled the International Printed Circuit and Electronics Assembly Fair due to the worldwide outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). The inaugural event, serving both the printed circuit board and electronics assembly industries, will now be held December 10-12, 2003, at the Guangzhou International Convention Center in Guangzhou, China.

There has been positive news that the World Health Organization has lifted the travel advisories for Hong Kong and the Guangdong Province in China and recent reports that mainland China experienced its second consecutive day without any new SARS cases.

IPC and HKPCA are determined to produce a high quality event that offers the maximum benefits to its exhibitors and attendees, said IPC President Denny McGuirk. By rescheduling this event that takes place in the heart of the fastest growing electronics market in the world, we aim to allow more time for the public and the Fairs participants to increase the confidence in attending and taking part in this exposition.

The Fair is an example of how two organizations, though thousands of miles apart, can work together to benefit the industry, added Tom Tang, chairman of the executive committee of HKPCA. We will leverage and merge our experiences, memberships and synergies to deliver a cost effective and focused exposition to both exhibitors and participants.

The organizers of the International Printed Circuit and Electronics Assembly Fair are collecting world-class speakers for a dynamic technical conference that covers board design through manufacture and electronics assembly through test. The co-producers are also producing a full schedule of half- and full-day educational courses specifically designed for local engineers and technical professionals. In addition, IPC and HKPCA plan to draw true decision makers and leaders to the Fair by introducing standards development meetings for the first time at an electronics assembly show in China.
