The printed circuit board division of the former company AIK Klagenfurt has been a part of Austria-based AT&S Group since February 1, 2003. AT&S owns 77% of the new company AT&S Klagenfurt Leiterplatten GmbH, with the remaining 23% owned by Klagenfurt Grnder- und Innovationspark Besitz GmbH.
As a result of this merger, its factories will become even more specialized, says AT&S. Moreover, to date there have always been capacity bottlenecks in the works at Fehring, which has similar technology. These can be alleviated with the additional capacity, the company explains. AT&Ss new factory in Carinthia will be gradually expanded into a competence center for single-sided printed circuit boards. To compensate for this change, Fehring will specialize in the next few years in producing double-sided through-contact PCBs.
In addition, AT&S Klagenfurt has a partner factory in Balatonlelle, Hungary. As an exclusive partner, this factory will be responsible for the processing stages involving many members of the workforce, such as dies, electrical and visual checks, packaging and despatch.
