SMTA Releases New Testability Guidelines

Mar 11, 2003

03-10-2003 -- Atlanta, GA

The Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA, Minneapolis, MN) announced today the availability of SMTA Testability Guidelines TP-101C. Led by SMTA Testability Committee Chair Louis Ungar, the guidelines were developed to present information to comprehensively test and accurately diagnose the complex circuitry produced in modern electronics manufacturing.

Each chapter begins with an introduction intended to put into perspective the enumerated guidelines that follow. Considering the variety of issues currently associated with testability, the SMTA Testability Committee was temporarily expanded to include specialized task forces, each with a designated leader and each concentrating on its own discipline. The work of these task forces is featured as separate chapters in the guidelines, which contain testability considerations that delve into the design, development and test of a product.
