San Mateo, CA
Conexant Systems Inc. has annouced the name of its foundry spin-off. Launched to serve the mixed-signal and RF semiconductor segments, Jazz Semiconductor will be christened Monday (May 6) and will occupy the fabrication facility located at Conexant's headquarters in Newport Beach, Calif.
All trace of Conexant's name and logo were removed from the building overnight on March 12, the eve of the official spin-off. Since then, the walls have remained plain white as Jazz awaited legal approval of its name.
Jazz's specialties will include high-speed silicon germanium (SiGe) components, although the company also has CMOS and BiCMOS capabilities.
The Carlyle Group owns 55 percent of Jazz, and Conexant holds the remaining 45 percent.
