IPC Announces Dates for TMRC Meeting

The IPC (Northbrook, IL) has announced that the 2002 Spring Technology Market Research Council (TMRC) Meeting will take place May 14-15, 2002, at the Hotel Inter-Continental in Chicago, IL. The theme for this year's meeting is �A New World.� Presentations will focus on issues related to enhanced security and identification measures, such as biometrics and RFID technology.

�Our world has changed since the September 11 terrorist attacks,� said Jeff Morton, IPC director of market research. �The focus of the electronic interconnection industry is changing and IPC's Spring TMRC meeting will explore the potential industry opportunities for this 'new world.'�

In his keynote presentation, entitled �The Business of Biometrics,� Dr. Joseph J. Atick, Visionics Corp.'s chairman and chief executive officer, will discuss the paradigm shift that has occurred in the field of biometrics. He will also explore various business models that may be adopted by the electronic interconnection industry as it responds to growing market demands.

Other presentations during the two-day meeting include: �Trends in the Security Industry� by William Zalud, editorial director of Security Distributing and Marketing (SDM) magazine; �RFID Technology: An In-Depth Look at Smart Labels� by Anthony Sabetti, Texas Instruments' RFID systems global manager; �Economic Outlook for 2002� by Dr. William C. Hunter, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago's senior vice president and director of research; �China...The Country, the Politics, the Culture and the Business Environment� by Arthur J. Yarzumbeck, director of China Operations for IBM Microelectronics Division; �Global Business Outlook: Timing and Magnitude of the Current Recovery� by Walt Custer, founder and president of Custer Consulting Group; �It's Not Easy Being Green-The Sequel� by David Bergman, IPC vice president of standards, technology and international relations; and various presentations, made by IPC staff members, featuring reports on the printed wiring board (PWB) industry, with respect to global and technology trends, and the flex and rigid board markets.
