Nov 06, 2020 Data I/O Corporation (NASDAQ: DAIO) received a 2020 GLOBAL Technology Award in the category of Device Programming for its Single Socket UFS Upgrade Kit for Lumen®X. The award was announced during a Virtual Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020.
The Single Socket UFS upgrade kit is Data I/O’s second-generation kit supporting UFS programming increasing programming capacity by 2x. UFS is the next generation flash memory technology replacing the common eMMC 5.1 flash memory devices. The Single Socket UFS Upgrade Kit for LumenX programmers enables customers to leverage their existing investment in Data I/O to program UFS devices at optimal programming performance for volume manufacturing.
Automotive electronics programmable content is projected to grow from 32GB to over 2 TB and beyond by 2025; driven primarily by the infotainment systems in connected and autonomous cars. These applications are transitioning from eMMC Flash Memory to Universal Flash Storage (UFS) to meet the storage, power and application performance requirements.
UFS, the successor to eMMC technology, features an ultra-high-speed data rate with new high-frequency bus protocols. Advancements in programming technology are required to communicate with a UFS device and take advantage of the high performance. Socket UFS Adapter board technology enables customers to easily program the latest flash device technologies at optimal programming speed on their existing PSV programming systems, protecting the customers’ investment today and in the future.
