IPC Honors Members at APEX 2002

The IPC (Northbrook, IL) honored 59 individuals at APEX 2002, held January 19-24, 2002, in San Diego, CA, for their contributions to IPC and the electronics industry. Six individuals were honored with the IPC President's Award. The award is given to members who have exhibited ongoing leadership and have made significant contributions to the association and the electronics assembly industry.

President's Award recipients honored at APEX 2002 were: Dr. Karen A. Tellefsen, Alpha Metals; Peggi J. Blakley, NSWC-Crane; Daniel L. Foster, Soldering Technology International; Jeff Ferry, Circuit Technology Center, Inc.; Garry D. McGuire, NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center; and James H. Moffitt, Moffitt Consulting Services.

IPC also presented several Special Recognition Awards at the conference. The following were honored for their leadership in development of IPC/WHMA-A-620, Requirements and Acceptance for Cable/Wire Harness Assemblies: Ray Sweeney, Unlimited Services; Vernon Judy, Sr., Qualastat Electronics; John A. Mastroianni, Intercon, Inc.; Brian Duffey, Mydata Automation; and Marc Peo, Heller Industries Inc.

The following were also honored with Special Recognition Awards at this year's conference: Martin L. Barton, Preferred Designs; Seppo Nuppola, Nokia Networks; Debora L. Obitz, Trace Laboratories; Tony Hilvers, IPC.

IPC also presented 44 volunteers with Distinguished Committee Service Awards at APEX 2002. The following members were recognized for their dedication and significant contributions to IPC/WHMA-A-620: Susan Roder, Rochester Industrial Control Inc.; Karla Maxwell, RF Industries; Riley L. Northam, EMPF/ACI; Troy Agner, ESI America, Inc.; Teresa M. Rowe, AAI Corp.; Greg Hurst, BAESystems; Anthony M. Monteiro, Hamilton Sundstrand; Charles A. Lawson; G. Les Bogert, Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc.; Ralph J. Hersey; Marlin C. Shelley, Cirris Systems Corp.; Brett A. Miller, USA Harness, Inc.; Ken A. Moore, Omni Training Corp.; Gregg Owens, Omni Training Corp.; Lowell Nutter, Array Connector Corp.; Charles C. Myers, Storage Technology Corp.; Mel Parrish, Soldering Technology International; Richard Francis, Carlyle, Inc.; Blen F. Talbot, L-3 Communications; and Sharon T. Ventress, U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Command.

The following Distinguished Committee Service Award recipients were honored for their significant contributions to the 7-22g DPMO Task Group: Richard Vernon, Phoenix International Corp.; Mark Orlowski, Pemstar, Inc.; Ashok Dhawan, C-MAC Electronic Systems, Inc.; Frank M. Piccolo, Electronics Manufacturing Group; Tom Olafsson, Teradyne, Inc.; Peter Randklev, Benchmark Electronics; Fritz R. Byle, Kester Solder; and Roger Hamilton, Plexus Electronic Assembly Corp.

For their significant support to the 5-21a Component Mounting Guidelines Task Group, the following were also presented Distinguished Committee Service Awards: Ronald J. Brock, NSWC-Crane; Bruce Houghton, Celestica, Inc.; Jennifer Day; Leo P. Lambert, EPTAC Corp.; and James E. Rausch, Delphi Delco Electronics Systems.

In addition to their participation in the 5-21a Component Mounting Task Group, Don Youngblood, Honeywell, Inc., and Randy McNutt, Northrop Grumman, were also recognized for their support to the 7-31f Cable/Wire Harness Task Group.

Werner Engelmaier, Engelmaier Associates, and Les Hymes, Les Hymes Associates, were awarded for their leadership of the 5-22h Thermal Profiling Task Group.

For their leadership and contributions to IPC-HDBK-830, Fonda B. Wu, Raytheon Systems Company, and Sharon K. Goudie, Dow Corning Corp., were also awarded Distinguished Committee Service Awards.

The following members were honored with Distinguished Committee Service Awards for their individual work on various programs: Robert Voitus, Celestica; Guy M. Ramsey, EMPF/ACI; Dr. William G. Kenyon, Global Centre for Process Change, Inc.; John Waryold, Humiseal Division/Chase Corp.; and Roger H. Landolt, Enthone Inc.
