IPC Honors Members at IPC Annual Meeting

IPC- Association Connecting Electronics Industries® honored 16 members at the IPC Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL, for their contributions to IPC and the electronics industry.

Two individuals were honored with the IPC President’s Award.  This award is given to members who have exhibited ongoing leadership in IPC and have made significant contributions to the association and the electronics interconnect industry.  President’s Award recipients honored at the IPC Annual Meeting were:

  • Steve DeCollibus, Cookson Electronics, for his leadership on IPC SMEMA Council’s APEX® tradeshow committee.
  • Allan Fraser, GenRad, Inc., for his leadership of the CAMX committee and his ongoing support of the SMEMA Council.

IPC also presented 11 Distinguished Committee Service Awards at the IPC Annual Meeting.  This award is given to IPC committee members who have made an exceptional contribution to a specific standard, guideline, round robin test program or other IPC programs.  The following individuals were given this award for their contributions to the revision of J-STD-006A, Requirements for Electronic Grade Solder Alloys and Fluxed and Non-Fluxed Solid Solders for Electronic Soldering Applications.

  • Dave Dodgen, Technical Devices Company
  • Andy Mackie, Praxair
  • Tim Skidmore, Raytheon
  • Dave Scheiner, Kester Solder

Five individuals were also awarded with the Distinguished Committee Service Award for their work on the GenCAMâ LART project, a program that demonstrates design to manufacturing data transfer capability from a design board assembly workstation using GenCAM 1.5, as documented in IPC-2511, Generic Requirements for Implementation of Product Manufacturing Description Data & Transfer Method.

  • David Graves, UltraCAD Design, Inc.
  • Michael McClay, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
  • Anthony Prince, Mentor Graphics

The Distinguished Committee Service Award was also given to two individuals for their work on the D-36 Printed Board Process Capability, Quality and Relative Reliability (PCQR2) Benchmark Test Standard Subcommittee.

  • Tom Newton, Manufacturers’ Services, Ltd.
  • Dave Wolf, Sanmina

IPC also presented three Special Recognition Awards at the IPC Annual Meeting.  These awards are presented to individuals who have made a recent exceptional contribution to an IPC program.

  • Reza Ghaffarian, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, for his work on the release of IPC-9701, Performance Test Methods and Qualifications Requirements for Surface Mount Solder Attachments.
  • Greg Horton, SMTEK International, for championing Emexcess.com, the IPC maintained Web site for buying and or selling excess parts.
  • Hugh Russell, Defense General Supply Center, for chairing the J-STD-006A committee.
