New Electronics Coalition Eyes Industry-Wide Collaboration, Invites Stakeholders to Charter Meeting May 21 at IPC ESTC

May 14, 2013

The Coalition for the Advancement of MicroElectronic Systems Technology (CAMEST), an independent organization dedicated to fostering collaboration among the global electronics industry, academia and government, will hold its initial planning meeting and charter development May 21 during the IPC Electronic Systems Technologies Conference (IPC ESTC) at The New Tropicana in Las Vegas.

Representatives from any organization with a stake in the electronics industry are invited to participate.
IPC ESTC is the perfect venue to introduce this new group,” says Denny Fritz, coalition strategy leader. “Like IPC ESTC, the Coalition’s focus is on the total package — incorporating technology at all phases of electronic component assembly and subsystem manufacturing, from semiconductor to final assembly. We’re glad to have IPC as a supporter of our efforts.”

The CAMEST principal goal is to bring together stakeholders from throughout the electronics supply chain to determine where gaps in technology exist, and then find solutions to fill those gaps. Chief among its tasks is the development of a central repository of information that would not only support identification of technology needs but also facilitate faster technology dissemination.

According to Fritz, “The repository would ultimately lead to expedited results and faster time-to-market — a win for business, government and consumers alike.
More information about CAMEST and future activity is available by contacting Dieter Bergman, IPC’s ambassador of technical programs, at DieterBergman@ipc.org.

IPC (www.IPC.org) is a global industry association based in Bannockburn, Ill., dedicated to the competitive excellence and financial success of its 3,300 member companies which represent all facets of the electronics industry, including design, printed board manufacturing, electronics assembly and test.
