IPC Names John Hasselmann as Vice President of Government Relations

Feb 19, 2013

IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries® announces the appointment of John Hasselmann as its new vice president of government relations. Hasselmann will start his new position on March 4, 2013, and will be based in IPC’s Washington, D.C. office.

In this new role, Hasselmann will be responsible for development and implementation of the organization’s global advocacy efforts and policy agenda. He will work closely with IPC’s Government Relations Steering Committee, and IPC Washington, D.C. office staff, to identify issues and other opportunities where IPC can demonstrate its global leadership in government relations and public policy.

Hasselmann was most recently the senior director of government relations at BSA The Software Alliance in Washington, D.C., a leading advocate for the global software industry. In that position, Hasselmann was responsible for strengthening and expanding BSA’s relationships with members of the U.S. Congress, strategically integrating BSA’s policy and government relations activities, and developing and managing the organization’s political action committee. Prior to BSA, Hasselmann worked on Capitol Hill for two governors and has been active in numerous political campaigns as a volunteer, fundraiser and policy advisor.

John’s experience and bipartisanship has made him a respected and trusted advocate in Washington,” said John Mitchell, IPC president and CEO. “It was impressive to get personal calls from distinguished and highly visible representatives from government and industry in support of John and his work. We look forward to welcoming him to IPC.”

Hasselmann earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).
