Philips Headquarters Move to Breitner Tower in July

Jan 22, 2001

Philips will begin the move to its new headquarters at the Breitner Tower in Amsterdam this coming July. The removal plan will involve the transfer, one-by-one, of those departments (350 employees) currently located in the neighboring Rembrandt Tower. They will be joined by over 100 employees who will move to the Breitner Tower from Eindhoven. The Breitner Tower will, therefore, accommodate nearly 500 employees of the company's headquarters, as well as management and staff of the Consumer Electronics product division.

This was said in Eindhoven today by Gerard Kleisterlee, next President of Royal Philips Electronics from May 1, during an internal meeting for several hundred employees.

"We have been busy transforming the Philips Group over the past few years into a company that can quickly anticipate the ever-changing challenges of the world market. The decision in 1997 to establish the headquarters in Amsterdam, was an integral part of this process. It was in this context that we also decided to move the management of the Components product division from Eindhoven to Silicon Valley last September. From an international perspective, Amsterdam is an excellent location from which to manage a large multinational corporation such as Philips. Therefore, let's not look back to the past, but use this home base to continue to realize the growth ambitions of our company," said Gerard Kleisterlee.

Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) is one of the world's biggest electronics companies and Europe's largest, with sales of EUR 30.3 billion in 2004. With activities in the three interlocking domains of healthcare, lifestyle and technology and 161,100 employees in more than 60 countries, it has market leadership positions in medical diagnostic imaging and patient monitoring, color television sets, electric shavers, lighting and silicon system solutions.
