Norwalk, Conn., April 17, 2002 Assembly Technology Expo, the world's largest "all assembly" trade event, will feature two free keynote addresses by senior operations executives from General Motors and the Ford Motor Company.

Gerald L. Elson, Vice President of General Motors and General Manager of GM Vehicle Operations, will kick off the event with his presentation, entitled "Emerging Technologies in Automotive Manufacturing" on Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at 9:00 am. Mr. Elson began his career at GM as a design engineer, and has served as an assembly engineer, plant manager and executive director of advanced manufacturing engineering, as well as many other senior management positions with the company. He is currently responsible for manufacturing engineering, manufacturing engineering services, program/project management and worldwide facilities for the auto maker.

"Technology as an Enabler for People and Quality" is the subject of Anne Stevens' speech to be given on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at 9:00 am. As Vice President, North America Vehicle Operations for the Ford Motor Company, Ms. Stevens is responsible for overseeing the operations of eight stamping and tool and die plants, as well as 21 assembly plants in Canada, Mexico and the United States. She joined Ford as a marketing specialist, and has served as manufacturing manager for Ford Automotive Components Division's Plastic and Trim Products Operations. She later became Ford's first female plant manager in Europe, and director of the Manufacturing Business Office for Ford in North America.

"We are very pleased that Assembly Tech Expo attendees will have the opportunity to hear insights on the value of cutting-edge assembly technologies from senior executives of two of the world's most successful and respected manufacturers," stated Kelvin Marsden-Kish, Industry Vice President of the Assembly family of events, produced by Reed Exhibitions. "Their remarks will provide valuable perspective for attendees responsible for implementing advanced solutions at their companies."

General Motors, the world's largest vehicle manufacturer, designs, builds and markets cars and trucks worldwide. In 2001, GM earned $1.5 billion on sales of $177.3 billion, excluding specialty items. It employs about 362,000 people globally.

Assembly Technology Expo will take place September 24-26, 2002 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, just outside Chicago.
