Acculogic to Unveil Flying Scorpion Duo™ at Productronica 2009

Dec 07, 2009

WOBURN, MA ? October 2009 ? Acculogic’s Manufacturing Test Systems Division, a global leader in electronics test and production solutions, announces that it will premiere the Flying Scorpion Duo™ Flying Probe Tester in Hall A1, Stand 465 at the upcoming Productronica exhibition, scheduled to take place November 10-13, 2009 at the New Munich Trade Fair Center in Munich, Germany.

In addition to no-compromise double-sided test capability, variable angle probe modules, and up to 16 probe modules in a single machine, the Scorpion Duo offers ScanProbe™ and AccuFast™ drives as standard features. The system’s new integrated and compact frame requires less floor space, offers lower cost and a flexible configuration.

Acculogic’s Vice President Farouk Eshragi said, “ScanProbe and full integration of boundary scan, together with increased accuracy, dynamic response, and reliability, provided by AccuFast Technology™, has enabled the Flying Scorpion to provide full in-circuit testing capability without needing a ‘bed-of nails’ test fixtures.” He added, “With boundary scan powerfully unleashed, test coverage can be maintained at levels comparable to what is achieved on in-circuit testers, and test cycle times will be held to acceptable levels for low- and medium-volume production.”

Scorpion Duo™ testers are equipped with the new AccuFast Drive System, which relies on advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology for closed-loop control of all motions. With four times the speed and acceleration, 1 µm positioning resolution, and automatic orthogonality, the new closed-loop motors significantly increase the reliability and speed of the tester.

Scorpion systems are offered in double-sided “Duo” or single-sided “Solo” configurations. These systems can be equipped with Acculogic’s new Basic Probe Modules BPM700 (Fixed 5°Angle), or Advanced Probe Module APM800 (3-D Programmable 0-5° Angle).

Furthermore, FLS900-series testers are equipped with Acculogic’s leading boundary scan (JTAG) hardware and runtime software as standard in its test sequencing software. Through the ScanProbe Technology, boundary scan cells are placed behind the flying probes of the FLS900 tester. With a combination of boundary scan and flying probes, in addition to boundary scan compliant components, many additional noncompliant components can be tested on the flying scorpion.

The Flying Scorpion FLS900s systems now are available. Customers can choose between the new low-cost, single-sided Scorpion “Solo,” or the high-performance, double-sided Scorpion “Duo” systems to suit their specific requirements and budgets.
