Windows NT Operating System Brings Enhanced Performance, Control, to Surface Mount Techniques Printers

Oct 04, 2001

Surface Mount Techniques has announced that all of the company's higher-end semi-automated and fully automatic screen and stencil printing machines using Windows graphical user interface for control are now equipped, as standard, with the Windows NT Operating System.

In making the announcement, William Grennan, VP Sales & Marketing, said, "This conversion to the NT system brings increased user-friendliness and enhanced performance to Surface Mount Techniques printers. The Windows NT operating system is the industry standard for motion control. Not only is it faster than older operating systems, but it's more flexible and accommodates more customization, an added plus for our customers who must meet the challenges of a high-mix electronics manufacturing environment."

The Windows NT Operating System will also provide added benefits to Surface Mount Techniques' vision alignment systems, such as the opportunity to enhance SMT's vision alignment routines and reduce fluctuations caused by ambient lighting. In addition, NT provides enhanced security features.

Surface Mount Techniques printers using the NT operating system include the Opti-Print SL2220, 2444AV, and 2444AVL models as well as the all new LP Series of in-line printers. The company is using the base NT platform from ESI (Electro Scientific Industries) in Portland, Oregon, a recognized world leader in vision systems and vision based equipment.
