Connectors Handle Up to 54A Safely Onboard

May 19, 2003

Two new PCB power connectors from Weidmuller's Powermate range - the SV/BV and SU/BU - offer easy high power wiring (up to 54A) with built-in safety features to prevent incorrect connections and resist strong vibration.

With a choice of variants, pitches and security features, the SV/BV and SU/BU connectors can be configured to the requirements of a wide range of heavy duty industrial applications such as servo motors, frequency inverters, transport and machine control systems.

Weidmuller's SV/BV and SU/BU connectors comprise pinheaders and socket blocks with a specially shaped interface to prevent incorrect insertion.

They are available as 7.62mm pitch in 2- to 12-pole modules (SV/BV) and 10.16mm pitch in 2- to 9-pole modules (SU/BU), in 90 and 270-degree angles to the needs of different applications.

Flexible or solid wire conductors can be accommodated with cross-sections from 0.5 to 6mm2 (SV/BV), or 0.35 to 16mm2 (solid - SU/BU) and flexible to 10mm2 (SU/BU).

Ferruled conductors may also be used.

SV/BV is available with both screw clamp and tension clamp vibration-proof connection technology, while the SU/BU module is available with screw clamp connectors only.

The Weidmuller SV/BV is rated to 800V/6kV (II/2), 39A (VDE), 31A/300V (UL1059 Group C).

The SU/BU is rated to 1000V/6kV (III/2), 54A (VDE) and 300V/48A (UL1059 Group C).

As well as 3.5mm-long multipin solder connection for excellent electrical properties and mechanical stability, the integral multifunction locking elements enable easy interlocking and screwing down for complete security of connection.

Mechanical fixing of the pin header is also possible for added strain relief.

International approvals for the units enable them to be used worldwide.
