Evaluation Kit for Novel Board-to-board Jumpers

Mar 04, 2003

In a move that broadens its interconnect design services, Micromark C and CD has introduced a new development kit for the Flexstrip jumpers flexible interconnect system.

The kit, supplied in a handy CD case, provides full data and samples of the one-piece construction Flexstrip range from Tyco Electronics, and is an invaluable source to designers.

Stocked and supported by Micromark C and CD, the high performance Flexstrip system combines improvements in contact reliability, low height profile and ease of assembly in a comprehensive family of multiconductor board to board connectors.

In addition, Flexstrip reduces the need for wire stripping, cutting to length or solder preparation.

A flat conductor construction delivers high flexibility and resistance against vibration and high flexing angles, while conventional round pins at each end ensure simplified assembly and soldering.

Flexstrip jumpers are available with four insulation options for use in a variety of environments as well as a wide range of conductor pitches to ensure compatibility with all standard PCB layouts, including 1.27 and 2.54mm.

Equivalent conductor sizes range from 24, 26 and 28AWG, and Flexstrip can be supplied in insulation lengths of 12.7mm to 863.6mm.

Rated at 3A, 300V AC, Flexstrip features a UL94V0 flammability rating and can be used in temperatures up to 150C, depending on insulation material.

Furthermore, unique manufacturing methods allow many combinations of finished products to be produced efficiently, enabling Micromark C and CD to deliver most standard products within a few days.
