Nu Visions Accelerates Product Realization with Valor's NPI Assembly Solution

Aug 14, 2003

Lake Forest, CA 14. August, 2003 Valor Computerized Systems [FSE/Prime Standard: VCR, VACS] announces the sale of its Trilogy 5000 next generation NPI engineering software solution to Nu Visions Manufacturing, LLC, a contract electronics manufacturer, based in Springfield, Massachusetts, which provides customized manufacturing solutions from the initial stages of product design over high volume board assemblies to post-assembly services for the military, medical and industrial marketplace. The initial order is valued at US$ 250,000 at the corporate Springfield manufacturing plant.

Trilogy 5000 enables Nu Visions to validate incoming BOM (Bill of Material) and AVL (Approved Vendor List) files on a job-by-job basis, crucial to ensuring a streamlined CAD-to-assembly process. Trilogy 5000 automatically uploads the validated BOM/AVL files into Nu Visions existing ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) to reduce erroneous and time-consuming manual entries for an improved procurement cycle, while taking the current inventory and resources into account for a faster and enhanced assembly preparation process.

By including Valors best-in-class DFM (Design for Manufacturability) verification tools, as part of the chosen Trilogy 5000 product platform configuration, Nu Visions is able to extend the range of engineering services to its customer base, by providing high-end design verification services based on pre-defined manufacturing constraints to effectively reduce revision spins which translate into time-to-market benefits and higher quality products.

The unique 24/7 online Valor Parts Library (VPL) service further extends the scope of Trilogys best-in-class DFM and assembly line optimization capability, by providing accurate geometrical component data, which is integrated with the CAD data enabling virtual prototyping of highly complex board designs and delivering precise component placement data to optimize assembly machine programming.

Nu Visions assembly lines will be optimized using the unrivalled Manufacturing Process Simulation (MPS) technology of Trilogy 5000, which includes industry-leading line balancing algorithms, based on accurate assembly machine kinematics and grouping technology, designed to reduce machine change-over times and assembly line downtime, both leading to higher productivity and increased machine output results for faster return on existing assembly equipment investments.

Being in line with Nu Visions paperless working environment Trilogy 5000 provides a powerful Documentation Editor, which seamlessly integrates to Nu Visions internal MES system (Manufacturing Execution System) to generate exact and customizable machine handling instructions right down to the factory floor and in accordance with the prepared resource plan. Nu Visions currently utilizes personal computers at each and every assembly workstation for viewing process sheets, data collection, SPC and real-time WIP tracking.

Steve Pudles, CEO of Nu Visions commented: We went through a lengthy selection process to find the best software engineering solution capable of improving and complementing our existing process flow, and have chosen Trilogy 5000 because of its fully integrated platform solution which efficiently interconnects our customers PCB design through our manufacturing processes. Mr. Pudles continued, Trilogy 5000 will enable us to achieve higher yields, improve quality and increase productivity.

President of Valor North America, Chuck Feingold, contributed with the addition of Nu Visions to our list of customers, we continue to service the forward thinking companies that are keenly focused on NPI services to their customer base, along with ramp-to-volume disciplines, utilizing the Trilogy 5000.
