Function: The FIFO buffer can operate in four different modes, which have made it feasible enough to be used in most of the production lines. The four operating modes are:
- Buffer mode
Buffer mode can be divided into two modes
- FIFO (First in First out) mode
- LIFO (Last in First Out) mode
- Loader mode
In loader mode, the machine functions as a loader. It will transfer the PCB in the stocker to the downstream machine upon request. All PCB’s from the upstream machine will not be attended. This mode performs in a LIFO basis.
- Unloader mode
In unloader mode, the machine functions as an unloader. It will accept PCB’s from Upstream machine until the stocker is full. The signal from Downstream machine will not be attended in this case. This mode performs in a FIFO basis.
- Bypass mode
This mode is used when the FIFO buffer in not required to stock up PCB’s in the stocker conveyor. In this mode, only one PCB is allowed to stay in the lifter. The next PCB will not be transferred into the stocker until the PCB in the stocker is transferred out.
