I'm investigating heat transfer by 1st order approximation between PCB and ambient air via encapsulate material (epoxy or gel or silicone), they have thermal conductivity of 0.2W/C but it hard to find specific heat capacity and density. Has anyone

Cant help you with the article that you read. Other places to start are: * 2221, 7.2 Heat Dissipation Considerations, 7.3 Heat Transfer Techniques, and 8.1.10 Heat Dissipation * 2222, 9.1.2 Thermal Relief In Conductor Planes

I remember reading a magazine article a few years ago that discused using the copper area of a pcb to transfer heat away from large SMT devices. Does anyone know of this article or something similar that I can obtain. The article covered copper area,

5 years. Hmmm. Good for you that you keep your job. Do you mean "heat transfer"? If so, Durostone transfers less heat than Ricocel. What is the purpose of this Ricocel pallet?

Hi Folks, My Production runs a uBGA-liken product, and uses Pallets to support the 0.8mm thick pcb, during the SMT + reflow oven process. Process/QA see occurs: 1) 0402 unsolder? 2) 0402 tombstone? 3) "uBGA" poor-visual joints (dry joints)? Took

John: Dont do it, well at least until we better understand what youre doing. What are you doing? Is it "heat capacity"? Heat capacity relates the change in heat to a change in temperature.

Ok the folk's so how's your math's?? I'm trying to track down an equation for calculating the output of a set of quartz lamps as part of a thermal matching program, anyone got any hints? and Dave...don't do it doesn't count! John

10% slump). I am finding out their test std used but I think those lab test is different from real reflow as the heat transfer rate of reflow oven is much higher. Any one care to share your views?

We were having void problems with heat transfer down the via's (24 layer boards, shed loads of planes). So we drew the via away from the centre into a teardrop pad. Void's gone!
