SMT Process Engineer

Summary:
This person will be a primary contributor to our THT and SMT production lines for LED PCB Assembly.  This position will be responsible for all aspects of printed circuit board assembly, from setup and installation of new equipment, to ensuring high quality product is delivered for top-level fixture assembly.   A successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver that is able to work around technical obstacles and implement practical solutions.  The Process Engineer is a core member of the Operations Engineering team and works with that team to realize world class manufacturing systems and processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Identify, initiate and implement continuous improvement solutions for process optimization, cost reduction, and yield enhancements.
• Provide training and support to manufacturing personnel to improve overall capabilities and knowledge.
• Identified as the local subject matter expert on the manufacturing team and will head-off challenges or issues in manufacturing with decisive decision making.
• Analyze data to identify and resolve systemic process and performance issues.  

Education and/or Experience

• BS in Engineering with 2 years of experience OR 7+ years of experience in printed circuit board assembly.
• Working knowledge of all aspects of the PCBA process, including: THT machine Programming (Selective Soldering) - Slide Line Balancing - Component Prep (Lead Forming, Trimming, Wire Stripping, etc) - Pallet Design - Creating Work Instructions - Stencil Design - Laser Etch Programming - Screen Printer Programming - Solder Paste Inspection Programming - Pick and Place Programming - Automated Optical Inspection Programming - Reflow Profiling - Conformal Coat Programming – Hand Soldering
• Experience with creating equipment ‘standard operating’ procedures. 
• Experience with electronics manufacturing, and ability to guide design for manufacturability. 
• Demonstrated experience with data collection and analysis to drive manufacturing decisions. 
• Prior experience using DFM, FMEA, DOE, CTQs, and control plans.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to work independently and be self-sufficient while managing multiple tasks.
• Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with a focused execution of tasks.
• Strong computer software skills and aptitude to learn new software.
• Attention to safety, quality, and performance.
• Self-Starter with sense of self-reliance and sense of urgency. 
• Excellent work ethic with the understanding that excellence is a habit. 
• Ability to identify potential safety and performance issues and eliminate them.

Highly Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience starting up a PCBA operation from scratch.
• Experience with the following hardware and software suppliers: KurtzErsa - ASM - Yestech - Heller - Dage - Asymtek - Parmi - CyberOptics - SpeedPrint - DEK - Viscom - CAM350 - Cogiscan – Aegis CircuitCAM - SMT experience with LED board assembly, including: - Metal Clad - Vacuum Reflow - LED Rework - LED Binning - PCBs up to 4ft in length - De-Panel Process

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 30lbs and stand/sit for long periods of time
