Alpha, a business unit of Alent plc and the global leader in the development, manufacturing and sales of innovative specialty materials used in a wide range of industry segments, including electronics assembly, power electronics, die attach, LED lighting, photovoltaics, semiconductor packaging, automotive and others is seeking a Chemical Scale-Up Engineer for their global headquarters located in South Plainfield, NJ.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The primary purpose of this position is to scale-up new products from R&D to manufacturing size production. In addition this position will be responsible for performing tests for stability, viscosity, solder ball and any other that may be necessary within the scale-up lab. This position will also collect the data necessary to determine limits of function for the product, produce the batches necessary to determine stability of the products and develop all documentation to meet all necessary requirements for APQP.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinates all Scale Up activities of newly developed paste flux, paste in the new scale-up lab.
• Produces batches of flux and paste to scale-up new products.
• Performs all testing for the batches of Flux and Paste. Viscosity, solder ball, stability etc.
• Fills and labels containers for customer samples.
• Produces all shipping documentation.
• Coordinates and produces the documentation for the technology transfers to all global sites.
• Coordinates and fulfills Non-Engineered customer samples
• Responsible for creating manufacturing procedures for new products.
• Responsible for creating specifications for new products.
• Works closely with R&D, Marketing, GPEG and Manufacturing on all aspects scale-up
• Work on continuous process improvement projects to improve first pass yield and right the first time.
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must possess a four year degree in an engineering discipline (preferably chemical engineering); or two to four years of related experience in, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in scaling up new products from R & D to manufacturing size production desirable.
• Experience in the electronic assembly industry preferable.
• Must have the ability to travel up to 10% of time both domestically and internationally.
