Job Description:

REI seeks a motivated and experienced Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to join our California Operations Group! The Manufacturing Equipment Engineer will use his or her expertise primarily in automated optical inspection (AOI) and in evaluating, selecting, ordering, installing, setting up, testing, troubleshooting, and establishing maintenance procedures for a variety of printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing equipment with a good understanding of surface-mount technology (SMT).

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates, selects, orders, installs, and sets up equipment used in AOI inspection processes.
  • Recommends equipment modifications to improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques, and production yields for existing products.
  • Coordinates the installation, modification and testing of manufacturing equipment.
  • Programs AOI inspection equipment.
  • Investigates and determines root cause of equipment failures and problems; recommends countermeasures to increase efficiency and reliability of equipment.
  • Analyzes and identifies modifications that can be made to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Designs and fabricates, or arranges for external fabrication of, new and replacement parts.
  • Creates, writes, and modifies preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, start up, technician qualification, and other procedures. Develops preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Conducts research, compiles data, and prepares reports. Prepares and delivers presentations.
  • Prepares training materials and trains production and maintenance personnel on the usage and maintenance of equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5-7 years experience in PCB manufacturing equipment engineering.
  • Strong background in automated optical inspection (AOI).
  • Surface-mount technology (SMT) and through-hole (T/H) with thorough knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to the production of various products.
  • Thorough knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and other application software used in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
