Quality Engineer

NBS Inc. is a PCB contract manufacturer located in Santa Clara, CA. We are currently seeking to fill a position for a Quality Engineer. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to act in a supervisory role giving direction to personnel as it relates to quality, have a high level of technical ability, possess and demonstrate good team relations skills and have a demonstrated ability to follow instructions and achieve goals and tasks.

The Quality Engineer is utilized to:

• Identify weaknesses in processes, procedures, work instructions, training and personnel to determine opportunities for improvement in all areas assigned
• Perform process audits with regard to manufacturing process, product manufacturability, training, equipment and personnel as it relates to quality.
• Ensure that product at all stages of production meets Manufacturing Process Instruction specifications, customer requirements, and IPC or otherwise specified requirements.
• Assist in the development and implementation of new inspection and test procedures.
• Assist production management in the training of production personnel in their tasks as it relates to quality product.
• Train QC personnel on IPC standards and quality processes and instructions.
• Perform in depth root cause analysis upon discovery of defects and make recommendations to resolve systemic defect issues.
• Perform in depth root cause analysis of incoming RMA’s and customer complaints. Must have the ability to effectively write customer responses to identify root cause, corrective and preventive actions.
• Assist in root cause analysis to the component level.
• Perform Out of Box Validations
• Demonstrate detailed knowledge in types of defects that can occur in product.
• Coordinate with production and materials control personnel to identify the scope of and quarantine non-conforming product.
• Monitor production and QC personnel for quality of workmanship
• Identify and communicate to Quality Manager any lack of tooling and/or resources needed to meet quality standards
• Supervise production and QC leads in their job performance as it relates to quality and make recommendations for improvement
• Strong documentation and writing ability is required. The Quality Engineer will be required to document root cause analysis, write corrective action reports and correspond with customers both verbally and in written form.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5-10 years experience working in electronics quality engineering or process engineering in a CM or similar environment.
• Detailed knowledge of PCB manufacturing and PCB quality processes is requiredx.
• IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 instructor experience preferred. Detailed knowledge of industry standard workmanship requirements (IPC-A-600 / IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, etc.) is required.
• Ability to conduct high level PCB rework/repair utilizing established industry standards is preferred.
• Must possess good working knowledge of CM technology (specifically circuit board assembly)
• Ability to train production and quality department personnel in all facets of PCB quality.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English with a high degree of proficiency. Able to effectively communicate with customers through both oral and written communications is required.
• Ability to visually verify fine detail work.
• Experience with AEGIS Manufacturing Execution Software a plus
• Proficient at reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, bills of material, etc.
• Knowledge of ISO9001:2008 / ISO 13485 requirements preferred
• Basic competence with MSWord, Excel and Outlook (or equivalent preferred)
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks
