Last we knew, DEK and MPM each had 50 percent market share and the other printer equipment makers shared the remander of the market [bubkes]. Frost & Sullivan [ http://www.frost.com ] published "World Surface Mount Technology Screen Printers Markets� a few years ago. We assume they�ve updated the report.

We have no relationship, nor receive benefit from the company referenced above.

I would think that Ekra has some market share though certainly not as much as the Ford and Chevy of the screen printer market. As far as research by F & S, I would not put much stock in that despite the fact that the company is reputable. Don't know what they specify as their margin of error but would not be surprised if it's +/- 50%. Unless the company is publicly traded, good luck figuring out their market share.

If you asked all of them and then added up the answers, would it be more than, or less than, 200%? Well maybe not that high but I"m sure over 100%.

Our past experience with Frost and Sullivan is that they derive most of their data from interviews with the subject companies and press releases. That puts them a half a notch above asking the sales reps for info (except with F&S, the total won't be above 100% - hence the credit for the half notch....) Data we've examined seemed to indicate that, on a worldwide basis, DEK is the leader. MPM/Speedline has gained momentum in the past year. Ekra is the "other" player though not quite with the numbers the other guys have attained. How much market share each commands depends upon region. Beyond that, there are a number of other manufacturers making printers for SMT solder paste printing (and a number of the companie are for sale...)

Hi Kim I would say Dek are the leader at the moment with MPM not to far behind although there is a good market for a correctly priced machine, we have been looking at various alternative printers being manufactured in Asia, I reckon if these guys can up with a good priced technology machine they could do really well we represent Lead free ovens from China and reflow machines which are being recieved really well due to the price and technology they are offering Support is one of the major factors and the ifastructure of the rep promoting the equipment

Received well in the US? I guess there are people out there who just can't resist the low price. Personally, I would not put my neck on the line for a Chinese made reflow oven . . . maybe in 10 years but not now.

Hi Mike Dont be under the misconception that the Machines from China are poor infact I am just back and to be honest these guys are very good at what they do the machines are excellent and too be honest in lead free process they are well ahead of us in europe the machines and design of the Nozzles are very clever keep an open mind thats all I would say and maybe some of the larger well know machine makers should take a look at what the 3 main builders are doing
