Anybody know a site that lists example oven profiles? I am looking to write a profile for 120 C for 15 minutes through a Vitronics Soltec XPM Reflow oven. Rather than guess, a rough starting time for belt speeds would be nice.

Check with your temperature profile equipment supplier [eg, KIC, ECD, etc]. We use a download from ECD that lists most ovens and solder pastes that make it [or one like from another supplier] a good place to start.

You don't need to guess at belt speed, for example if your oven (heating area) is fifteen feet long, run at 1 ft./min that will be 15min total process time. As far as temp profiling you need to run T/C because each oven is different even if it is the same manufacturer and model. There is software out there dependant upon your profiling equipment that can "predict" your oven settings after your first run with profiler. I hope this answered your question.

sounds like a profile for some type of adhesive. depending on your required profile (manufacturer supplied) make sure that it matches it. For most adhesives (loctite, etc...) you just have to make sure it reaches a certain temp (150C for example for 3 minutes) Our profiles for adhesive in a 10 zone oven is 100C (first 3 zones) and 150C (last 2 zones) for both upper and lower. Board goes through for about 4.5 min, beautiful. For paste use we use KIC and a data logger. Two passes and we are pretty much done. Well worth the investment!
