Soldering temperatures/procedures. | 9 September, 1998

Hi, I work at a service department in Portugal and we are recently ISO9002 compliant. After our 2 billion audits, they asked us to improve our soldering documentation by joining information on soldering and desoldering regular and SMD IC's, like: max. temperatures, time, soldering procedures, etc... Does anyone as information on this (even short hints are appreciated!). Thanks.

TIP: Keep your soldering iron tip temperature about 100 deg F above the liquidous temperature of the solder you're using. PROCEDURES: 1 Checkout a Circuit Technolgy Center's site using the link below. They have a downloadable repair procedure manual. Just might save you some work. 2 Circuit Assembly magazine has a repair and rework page (http://www.cassembly.com/rework/rework.html). I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for. 3 Metcal (http://metcal.com) has some SMT rework procedures that you can download TTYL Dave F
