hello colleagues,

Hoping that everyone is doing well, I am reaching out to you in the hope that your experience can help me. We have a wave solder with sac0307 alloy and the pot has turned a golden color, at first I thought it was common tin oxidation but after removing the solder dross the color is still there.

I have checked the process (parametry) and so far I have not found any contamination or indication of it, the flux we use is water based and we use antioxidant (tin - phosphorus) to revitalize the pot, I have also made analysis of the pot and everything is within parameters. I want to think that there is some chemical element that is reacting with the alloy, because I can't find any other variable.

Has this ever happened to you? Do you know of any chemical analysis that can be done?

Thank you for your comments

I appreciate your comments

I did a post a while back about this with Selective. I don't recall all the details now, but you can search it.

Lab tests can confirm the composition of your material.

I'm going with tin oxide. Tin oxide changes color depending on the thickness of the deposit. Your deposit is fairly thin. It will change to a brown color as the thickness increases.

Your EDX may work. It doesn't hurt to try.
