Hello Experts,

I am using Heller 1707EXL in my shop. From last 2 months I have faced component missing and flying problem. I tried everything to figure out the problem i.e. change solder paste, re-calibrate PnP machine, several oven recipe etc but still facing same issue. Finally I decided to open the oven and try to find which zone is blowing the components away. I have found that zone 2-3 are blowing all the parts. Does anyone know how to control blower fan speed in Heller 1707EXT?

Is that not an option you have to buy when you spec the Oven?

There is a oven setup wizard on my 1809. your oven probably has one too. there you should be able to adjust blower speed for each zone.

Blower speed control is an option. If you have it, there will be an icon on the toolbar. Hover the mouse over the buttons for description.

Small components blown issue could be due to one of the below. - Process issue; Make sure solder paste is fresh, if flux is drying out it will not hold parts properly. Check downward pressure of Pick Place. SOT may have to be pushed a little harder into the solder paste. - Mechanical side, you can check smooth transition on the joint between upstream conveyor and oven conveyor, and whether the oven is leveled properly. Also see if there is any jerking motion on conveyor chain or mechanically chain is running smoothly without any jump (which will act as a bump) all the way through the rail. - If it's none of the above, I can't think of anything else except air blow from convectional heating system.

May you don't have the option. A quick way to know by checking the blower motor wires and if these wires are 55 and 56 then oven does not have the option. Anyhow there is a retrofit for blower speed control which need to install to control blower that required to install controller border and re-wire all the blowers and configure the software. I used to have the same issue with reed switches on one product we ran. Same oven too. We ended up rigging up an "umbrella" with two titanium stiffeners and bare PCB as the roof. It was hokey but it worked.

Good idea DWL, "Umbrella" thing works to solve this problem temporarily. But do you think it will cause any damage to hitter or heat zone?

It won't hurt anything in the oven.
