QUAD 4C mk2 Z axis | 1 February, 2013

Hi, I have a QUAD 4C mk2. I taught pickups and places from HHT. If I test them individually (RUN STEP PICK/PLACE etc...) before building the sequence, everything runs ok. After the sequence was built, everything goes wrong. Every PICK or PLACE ends in a Z axis bottom crash and an error message "LIMIT ERROR" Z 0,-10 Taught coordinates and LAE data remains unchanged. Reteaching every Pick/Place is ineffective. However nozzle change instruccions are not affected Power off and restart not eliminates the problem.

I ommitted the use of Central Controller to eliminate variables. The only way to get out from this situation is downloading an used program from CC, the instructions can be taught and work fine, until... you know. Anybody has experienced this phenomenom? Thanks.

Do a function 30 on the hht and you should get a nozzle height of around 200. If its not and its around 1 you have something on the quad align lens and you will have the exact problem you are having. Hope this helps...

Good luck

Function 30 reads CENTER 1024 RUN OUT 0.0 with any nozzle and without nozzle at all.

However I see that nozzle tip stops in front of laser beam. When I interrupt the beam with a piece of paper during Function 30, Z axis travels down until I take it off. Then Z axis motor stops and the readings appear on HHT screen. Thanks for your help.

The way its supposed to work...is....when you do a function 30 the z axis should step down until the nozzle tip is seen in the quad align or laser align. The readout should have a nozzle height but if its the earlier firmware for the machine it might not show you. A runout of 0.0 is telling me its not even seeing the z-rod. You should have some runout. Looks to me that you have a problem with the quad align head/card or laser align head/card.....depending on whats on the machine.

good luck

I found problem, it was a faulty connector on the align processor card. So, Mr. Bobpan, I thank you very much for your invaluable guidance.

P.S. My employer has been very clever and have purchased a 18 years old/ 25000 run hours/ third-hand equipment as is... Without tech support or replacement parts in Argentina... And with a bunch of cr*p*d feeders.

After an in depth examination, I found that the problem was not a defective connector as I thought in the first place. Actually is a broken through-hole on the Quad Align sensor.

I requested a spare part to PPM.

Mr. Bobpan, thank you again.
