Custom Super M.O.L.E. Thermal Protective Enclosure ? | 20 November, 2009

Has anyone attempted to, or successfully used a custom made (DIY) protective thermal enclosure for the Super M.O.L.E. gold profiler? We recently purchased a Bravo oven that came with everything for the ECD profiling system... except for the thermal enclosure. Considering the price of a brand new enclosure, we started throwing around the idea of making our own.

I have done this for the Datapaq and it worked well. The SlimKic uses a yellow thermal blanket material. It is called Pyropel. You can get it at McMasterCarr. I think McMasterCarr calls it polyimid foam insulation part number 93015K64 of 3/16 thick. It is actually Pyropel. It is $100.00 for a 24" x 24" x 3/16" sheet. Double the thickness up and glue it together using silicone. I will get you the part number for you and post later. I also can post the profile of how well Pyropel will insulate your Supermole. In other words, time at a certain temp before 80 degrees C is reached. The SuperMole, I think, is good to 80C internally. Check your manual! Pyropel is good stuff and in should protect the Mole well.
