Leadfree Wave Erosion | 20 April, 2007

Hi All,

We did not change our internal Solder pot components (stainless steel)when we switched to Leadfree Alpha SACX .

Running approx: 1 year now and I carried out checks yesterday and we have some signs of erosion. Did not expect to see this so soon.

Anyone else that did not change stainless steel components come across any problems yet ?

Hello,

we did same things, we switched some machines without changing or coating nozzles and pumps. we uses SACX from alpha. this now one year ago.

do you have pictures of the erotion? I'm interested in these. Please send me if you can. I'll check our machines then asap.

Hi, which kind of stainless steel are made your solder pot components? for istance : AISI-304 ? AISI-306 ? AISI-312 ? AISI-316 ?

As we know AISI-316 will last more against Tin erosion. But AM SACX does not allow so much !!!

I know who since two years ago loaded the pot by SN100C Ni+Ge)without coat any parts and now is still running w/o evidence of erosion.

Regards...GS

Yes, we also never experience erosion phenomenon on our solder pot. We are currently using one Sn Cu based alloy, which is SCS7.

SS EROTION WITH ANY SACK ALLOY IS INEVIDABLE GETTING A YEAR OF USE IS ONLY BECAUSE YOU ARE USING SACKX MOST OTHER SACK ALLOYS WOULD HAVE CAUSED MORE DAMAGE IN THE SAME PERIOD.ED
