Leader tape CP feeders

We are using these Cover tape extenders https://smtsupplies.com/products/cover-tape-extenders-8-12mm-yellow-500-per-box The problem we have is that we have on 8mm feeders is that these leaders are harder plastic, and we have to put fishing weights on basically every one until the leader gets past the pull gear. Another problem we have, somewhat unrelated to the extenders, is that we have to extend almost any plastic carrier tape and weight it, otherwise it bunches up against the end. Is there
