Justin, I would be currious as to your customers application, and if the temperature delta and rate are great enough to cause solder joint failures as a function of mismatched Tce then you may want to consider that even if you are able to identify

Justin, I have a customer who is considering changing from TH to SMT, but his preliminary reliability testing yielded solder joint failures, because his product must endure severe temperature swings. He can't change to an expensive substrate, or he'

TCE for Ais

Hi there, Does any one know what is TCE for fully wet saturated FR4. I came to know that for Dry FR4 the TCE is about 15-19 PPM C. Is that true? Appreciated for your help. rgs, chiakl

Customer has requested a custom CBGA pakaged resistor network.I've seen a lot of info about TCE mismatch but aslo have heard that using 0.025-0.030 balls offers some stress releif which allows for the TCE mismatch to become less of a problem. Would

Re: fillet lifting

Electronics Forum | Wed Aug 23 15:10:24 EDT 2000 | Dr. Ning-Cheng Lee

Fillet lifting is a phenomenon mostly observed at wave soldering. It is caused by mismatch in thermal expansion coefficient (TCE) between solder and parts, and aggravated by the pasty range of solder alloys. Upon cooling, the mismatch in TCE will cau
