New to ROHS

Electronics Forum | Fri Dec 15 14:42:35 EST 2006 | russ

we have has to alter some footprints to facilitate component rework/removal. We have some assemlies that have 2 oz and heavier copper, these boards require a lrger tip to melt solder so we have had to extend pads to allow the larger tips to touch pa

Flat flexible cable to PCB (RoHS assembly)

Electronics Forum | Thu Dec 28 22:58:30 EST 2006 | davef

If this is same TennRich Type B [ http://www.tennrich.com/trtw/TR_PI_Prod_Info.php?pid=2 ] that is an EMI gasket, it needs to be glued with a conductive adhesive. It has the same thermal capability as a Snickers Bar, about 90*C top end.

Leadfree Production experiences so far

Electronics Forum | Mon Jan 08 12:37:30 EST 2007 | aj

Hi all, I posted a thread a while back looking for information from other Engineers regarding how they felt the whole "RoHS Compliance Introduction" had gone. I cant locate the thread - if anyone could add their experiences to this thread I would

RoHS BGA stencil question

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 08 14:55:30 EST 2007 | pavel_murtishev

Good evening, I do. 2mil overprint is not critical. Paste will simply flow back. Paste flows back even with larger overprint (up to 15mil at least). 5mil stencil thickness if fine also. BGA area ratio for both BGAs is higher than 0.66 required by IP

A BGA reports (RoHS related of course)

Electronics Forum | Tue Feb 13 14:33:16 EST 2007 | CK the Flip

So the moral of the story is..... these SAC305 BGA's were accidentally mixed in with a Leaded process, the profile couldn't get hot enough due to Tg and Td constraints on a known good QFP on the same board, and consequently, the whole assembly fail

Leadfree assembly

Electronics Forum | Thu Apr 12 08:48:35 EDT 2007 | stepheniii

It depends on the contract. Is it they build what they are told to build or they are saying they are building leadfree. And it's not the assembly or the part that has to be leadfree. It's the parts of the parts that have to be less than the given p

Immersion White Tin

I am a CM, We do not use White tin either, we have had numerous solderability issues with this finish, We all agree when done correctly it is good, however I am at about 10% correct and 90% have issues. We currently use Immersion silver and Gold f

I'm currently looking for a tool to be able to convert TH components to SMT. Looking at each datasheet is to time consuming, we will be needing to convert TH to SMT for a customer. Their bards have approx. 3000 parts TH. We've got the Arrow to find

RoHS Calculation

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 12 11:07:03 EDT 2007 | stepheniii

To get you started you might want to look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RoHS I think it's as good a place as any to get started. It has the basics explained in a straightforward manner. At the bottom of the page are external links they probably
