Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 26 13:44:14 EDT 2008 | cgray

The chain and fingers for our Wave solder is getting a large amount of residue from the flux (high dissolved solids) we are using. Any recommendations for products that can clean polymerized flux.

Dave, The first step would be to learn to accept the residue. IPC class 2 has no problem with it. If that is not possible, I am not sure why a no clean is necessary- but I will take your work for it. Alcohols will dry out the residue, and turn it

Thanks for the kind words Dave. At no point in my reply was I trying to sell anything. I apologize to anyone who believes otherwise. I agree with the poster, if assemblies are going to be cleaned, consider a flux designed to be cleaned. While this is

Cory, I've got a lot of experience of testing of this type. The physical (not chemical) nature of the flux residues is the crucial issue in compatibility. If you have a softer residue (either caused by a thick initial solder paste deposit, or a low p

Patrick- You have not given enought detail of the type of discoloration. Is it "white residue"? Can it be "rust" colored? Whatever it is, you fab supplier needs to be called in immediately and give you an exact reason for this failure. Just rubbing
