Jack - The last time I checked IBM was specifying a minimum of 4800 cubic mils of paste for each pad. This is required for acceptable reliability, not just to make the connection. There is no way you are getting that volume with a 5 mil stencil

I figure if you need the rest, you don't need these. These strips are from some laser cutting tool fabricator. They give them to their customers [laser cut stencil fabricators] so the customer can do a good job. Yall have a nice day now, y'hear?

Piece of cake, our sencil design software not only automaticaly mods the data for all component pitches but can apply anti solder ball designs ( homebase, form4 vnotch etc). As an added bonus it warns when the side wall to surface area ratio exceeds

Jack: Two concerns with column devices: 1 Coplaniarity of the device and the board. 2 Adequate solder that you mentioned, becuase the columns will not be reflowing and you need to cloatthem with solder. You didn't describe your aperture, but even

Hi Steve ... I found nothing in the manufacturers "paper" to help. Comments are: * I agree. No blobs. Solder on the thermal pad should me minimized. Too much solder will float the component. Old timers used to talk about 50-80% coverage. * If you'

I've never placed one of these before, but it looks like a poorly designed part. It has pads scattered asymmetrically around the body of the part. when it reflows this is going to apply uneven forces to the component, causing it to skew. I guess hav

Boy, I step out for a bit and everybody picks on me (just joking). I believe I may have been off base a bit. Checking every bit of your stencil design is very good - I do that too. I calculate LXWXH and reduce or over print where needed, depending

We are about to do a second iteration of something we struggled mightily with last time and I'm hoping to at least make a step in the right direction. There are 12 of these parts on the board and virtually all of them required removal and replacemen
