to seal exposed copper layers

Electronics Forum | Fri Oct 20 14:13:32 EDT 2000 | DENNIS XIONG

Dear all, We have a PCB design mistake that causes exposed copper layers on the edges of breakaway locations. Although we fixed the design, but we already made a lot of boards plus many made before we found the problem. I wonder if any one have some

Dennis, I've seen this before, and in our case we didn't need to seal the edges because there was no concern of shorting or anything in the end product, this is a choice you will have to make, Does your end product have any protrusions or mounting h

How to improve the solder quality of QFN?

Electronics Forum | Mon Jun 27 09:38:30 EDT 2005 | Bob R.

What problems are the quality people seeing? I hope they aren't expecting a toe fillet. QFNs are typically cut from an array after plating. This leaves exposed copper on the sides of the part. We'll often see smearing from the sawing process that

Presence of Copper

Put on your Chemical Thinking Caps..... We are ablating the mask of a PCB which was over a copper layer. This exposes copper. Outside of an electrical test (no can do) how could we use a fast non-destructive test in order to determine that copper (

Looks to me like under etching of the underlying copper and the gold is just plated to all of the exposed copper surface. Is this characteristic the same on all solderable pads? You will not be able to remove this gold.

| I am looking for a product to repair PCB mask (seal exposed copper) and fill Gouges in pcbs, any suggestions? Why not use an electonic grade 5 minute epoxy? As long as it's inert, I'd do it. Scott
