Featuring Sono-Teks precision, non-clogging ultrasonic spray nozzles, SonoDry, Sono-Teks family of spray drying systems offers the flexibility of choosing the proper size machine that fits users needs, from small tabletop R&D systems ideal for small batch production to advanced floor models.
SonoDry is currently available in three models:
- SonoDry 750 Twin Cyclone Table Top System, water evaporation rate up to 750 ml/hr
- SonoDry 1000 Twin Cyclone Mobile Stand-Alone System, water evaporation rate up to 1000 ml/hr
- SonoDry 1500 Advanced Twin Cyclone Mobile Stand-Alone System, water evaporation rate up to 1500 ml/hr.
SonoDry 1000 will be on display at INTERPHEX. This model is suitable for aqueous/aqueous + solvents/solvents feeds. Featuring an ambient drying temperature of 250C, accuracy 1C (steps of 0.1C through PLC) and an air heater capacity of 1.8 kW, this model has a blower capacity of 120 Nm3/hour; 0-250 mm of water column vacuum and a feed pump capacity of 1600 ml/hr with a 2 mm ID tube controlled through PLC. Weighing 90 kg, the SonoDry 1000 is portable on wheels and has dimensions of 650 x 1625 x 55 mm.
With SonoDrys low velocity, soft atomized ultrasonic spray, creating small batches and test samples is easy. The user can maintain precise control of their processes with very low flow rates. SonoDry spray dryers also offer flexibility in choosing the ultrasonic atomizers nozzle frequency, allowing for customization of drop sizes.
The SonoDry ultrasonic spray dryers are designed for a wide array of applications in the pharmaceutical market, including drying of aqueous, aqueous-organic and organic feeds; drying of clear solutions, emulsions and suspensions; structural modifications; generation of desired particle size distributions; micro-encapsulation/englobing; and generation of nanoparticles and effective collection.
All SonoDry models feature quick, effective spray drying of aqueous/solvent feeds, PLC controls and quick, effective performance. With fully aseptic ergonomic systems, the SonoDry series offers a fully integrated hot plate and magnetic stirrer (not available on SonoDry 750 system), an optional N2 inert loop, an input/monitoring control panel, and an ultrasonic atomizer and air spray two-fluid nozzle.
SonoDry systems are fully controlled by state-of-the-art software programming that features a built-in PLC-based control system RS 232/485 port with LCD graphic display and input/monitoring control panel with audio visual indicators and two-way communication between machine and computer configuration. The systems are provided with serial port data logging system functions including inlet/outlet temperature, hot air flow rate, feed pump flow rate and unlimited recipe storage.
An array of advanced options are available for the SonoDry systems: N2 inert loop for laboratory scale spray drying using organic solvents; Teflon membrane scrubber for ultra-fine powder recovery, maximizing yields; Teflon absolute filter for absolute filtration of feed at lab level; Teflon tube peristaltic pump, which is best for contamination-free services on solvents (replaces silicone tubing); hot melt system that maintains liquid temperature from hot plate to nozzle; 21 CFR Part 11 compliance; dual liquid feed (for both ultrasonic nozzle and air spray nozzle); congealing nozzle for freeze drying; and a counter-current nozzle that facilitates larger diameter particles.
