New Laser Soldering Solutions.

Japan Unix, a solutions provider for manual and soldering automation, will exhibit in Booth #3325 at the IPC APEX EXPO, scheduled to take place Feb. 24-26, 2015 at the San Diego Convention Center in California. Company representatives will address the increasing requirements for soldering and its laser soldering solutions.

The number of electronic components in cars is constantly increasing. With the growth of the hybrid and electric vehicles’ market, not only will this number keep growing but the parts integration process will evolve. Soldering plays a vital role in the increasingly-high efficiency and functionality of automobiles.

Historically, laser soldering has been designed for processing micro components. With the advent of high power laser soldering, this technology can now serve larger needs in the automotive industry, such as:

  • Integrating LED lightings on ceramic PCB, a standard for room, head or rear light. As ceramic expels heat through, laser soldering was previously considered inappropriate
  • Integrating power modules, such as invertors and convertors, IGBT devices
  • Integrating the multiple antennas required by modern cars, for GPS, radio, TV broadcasting and Networking

All of these require a higher heat capacity, which is made possible by using laser soldering. In the meantime, this technology keeps providing its known benefits, such as a high speed, less maintenance, less space and a highly accurate repeatability. Therefore, more and more automotive and components manufacturers are choosing to use laser soldering.

For higher production requirements, other platforms are available for in-line or rotary table processing. For more information about the systems and options, visit www.japanunix.com.
