STI's Jim Raby to Hold Keynote Presentation at SMTA Huntsville

MADISON, AL � April 2009 � STI Electronics Inc., a full service organization providing training, electronic and industrial sales and distribution, consulting, laboratory analysis, prototyping, and small- to medium-volume PCB assembly, announces that Jim Raby, its founder and technical director, will give a Keynote Presentation titled, �Past, Present and Future of Electronic Assemblies� at SMTA Huntsville, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 14 from 8:30-9 a.m.

The presentation will include a discussion of the first printed circuit board assemblies, a discussion on early flux and its problems, and a discussion of test data on how/why 2 to 5 seconds were selected to make the best solder joint and the 500�F tip temperature.

Other topics to be discussed include wave soldering technology and its evolution, the alloy of choice and temperature, the purpose of preheaters and how to establish profile, and how to level solder pot to conveyor, and much more.

Jim has more than 50 years of experience in the industry including development of the NASA and Department of Defense Soldering Schools. He initiated the Zero Defect Program for Wave Soldering in addition to developing and implementing WS-6536D and the DoD-STD-2000 Specification programs. Jim's experience, expertise, and industry leadership are the foundation on which all STI products and services are developed and produced.
