Mar 19, 2012 March 19, 2012 - Rolling Meadows, IL - Panasonic Factory Solutions Company of America’s (PFSA) “Total Solutions for Any Mix, Any Volume” theme yielded high throughput with attendees at the recent IPC APEX 2012 show in San Diego, CA.
“The solutions we exhibited at IPC APEX really resonated with customers,” said Mark Ragard, Panasonic Factory Solutions Company of America Group Manager of Sales. Panasonic’s booth illustrated solutions for manufacturers in a factory-like manner, demonstrating how they can optimize their assets for maximum profitability through scalable hardware and software, integration of multi-vendor equipment lines and at-a-glance dashboards as well as innovative off-line solutions for zero changeover time.
“Relating each exhibit element to a customer’s process in terms of scalability, integration, and efficiency really drew attendee interest,” continued Ragard. “So many visitors commented that they’re seeking a low-risk, sustainable ally that can provide asset protection today for tomorrow's challenges—and they find these qualities in Panasonic. The 26% increase in show attendees was quite evident in the venue and the increase in qualified leads over last year amazing.”
Panasonic held an interactive display of zero changeover time featuring PanaCIM Enterprise Edition® Manufacturing Execution System (MES) coupled with the popular Next Production Modular (NPM) platform. “Experiencing non-event, single- and dual-lane changeovers live at APEX was extremely popular,” explained Ragard, “which further showed that the NPM is a versatile and flexible platform for any mix and any volume. What’s more, customers were very positive about new NPI features such as virtual sticky tape and off-line camera (for component teach) that minimize impact on overall line efficiency.”
Pin-through-hole (PTH) technology was also highlighted at APEX with the latest version of the RL132 radial insertion machine, the only 4-span radial lead machine in the market. “I’m amazed at how many North American customers weren’t aware of Panasonic’s high global PTH market share. It’s a market in which we have been involved for over 45 years, and that we continue to invest in and develop,” Ragard commented. “We’re very pleased that the leads for our PTH solutions more than doubled this year.”
