New SIPLACE Efficiency and Process Training

Aug 05, 2009

Even perfectly synchronized production environments have room for improvements, which are often not addressed when bottlenecks loom and the production capacity is fully utilized. That’s why innovative electronics manufacturer use the current global order decline to subject their production floors to a thorough checkup in order to identify potential development and optimize processes. SEAS is the only SMT equipment supplier that offers an resource for this procedure: the new SIPLACE Efficiency and Quality Process Training Course. Users learn to analyze the operating data of their own production on-site and to optimize the performance of their machines and lines on the basis of this data. During the 3-day seminar, participants enhance their knowledge of pickup and placement processes and learn how to troubleshoot problems; they also familiarize themselves with vision processes and integrated vacuum controls in order to ensure maximum equipment productivity in the future.

Participants who completed the course were particularly impressed by the immediate learning effect. Before the course was over they were able to reduce DPM rates, improve the placement quality and raise the machine and line utilization in their SMT production process. In addition, they were able to significantly reduce the time spent on finding the causes of problems.

The participants of a large German EMS had nothing but praise for the new course: "We were very satisfied with the training, particularly because of its strong emphasis on practical applications. We were able to deploy their newly acquired knowledge immediately and directly on our production floor."

The SIPLACE Efficiency and Quality Process Training Course was designed for experienced users who are already familiar with SIPLACE machines.

The course involves processing circuit boards on the SIPLACE machine and simulating frequent production errors. Special focus is placed on analyzing the performance and availability data which the participants use to optimize their machines’ throughput.

The new course enhances the students’ knowledge of pickup and placement processes. They also learn to conduct error analyses, fix errors and prevent similar problems in the future. The users also gain deep insights into integrated machine vacuum controls and the functionality of vision processes, which enables them to take advantage of these tools to improve their production output. They practice working with the SIPLACE OIS (Operator Information System) and learn how to analyze the data delivered by this system efficiently and effectively.
