Budapest, Hungary�According to published reports, Jabil Circuit will increase production in 2003. To do so, it contacted IBM, asking to take on some of its employees in the region who were in jeopardy of being laid off. Jabil Circuit officials said they will double their workforce from the current 500 as the company begins technological developments. Jabil will place new production lines at the facility where it makes PCBs.
In other news, Jabil Circuit acquired the majority of assets and business of Lucent Technologies of Shanghai Ltd. for $75 million. In addition, Jabil paid $26 million for Seagate Technology-Reynosa (Mexico) to expand its assembly services in Latin America.
