CONGRESSMAN GLENN THOMPSON TOURS CHEMCUT FACILITY IN PENNSYLVANIA

Jul 21, 2014

Today, Congressman Glenn Thompson (R-PA-5) visited Chemcut Corporation, an IPC-member company, located in State College, Pa. Coordinated by IPC, the meeting was part of an effort to help policymakers learn first-hand about legislative and regulatory issues that impact the electronics manufacturing industry.

I want to extend my appreciation to Chemcut and IPC for arranging the tour of this impressive facility and hosting today’s meeting,” said Rep. Thompson. “This was a tremendous opportunity to engage with the leadership team and the talented men and women who work to support Chemcut’s success as a business and a leader of innovation in manufacturing.”

Chemcut CEO and General Manager Richard Lies hosted the tour of the 110,000 square foot facility and led the discussion of several important policy and regulatory issues, including public-private partnerships for manufacturing innovation, export controls, tax policy, and science-based environmental regulation.

On behalf of Chemcut and IPC, I thank Congressman Thompson for his continued support of the manufacturing industry,” said Lies. “We look forward to working with him on policies that help the manufacturing industry retain its competitive edge so we can continue to create jobs and innovate.”

Rep. Thompson’s visit was part of IPC’s “Meet the Policymakers” program, through which IPC government relations staff arrange opportunities for IPC members to host elected officials at company locations. IPC member companies interested in hosting a legislator should contact IPC Vice President of Government Relations John Hasselmann at JohnHasselmann@ipc.org.

IPC maintains additional offices in Taos, N.M.; Washington, D.C..; Stockholm, Sweden; Moscow, Russia; Bangalore and New Delhi, India; Bangkok, Thailand; and Qingdao, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Chengdu and Beijing, China.

Chemcut was founded in 1956 as a manufacturer of precision equipment for printed circuit board production. One year later, the company sold its first Chemcut™ spray etching machine. Chemcut etchers were at the forefront of technology, as mass produced printed circuits quickly replaced handmade circuit boards. Today, we continue to be the world's leading developer and supplier of wet processing equipment for photo chemical milling of thin metal parts, chemical engraving of signs and nameplates, etching printed circuit boards, metal finishing, specialized glass processing for flat panel and touch-screen displays, photovoltaic (solar) panel manufacturing, and non-traditional processing of semiconductor products. Chemcut's State College, PA facility contains a customer evaluation laboratory, the manufacturing and testing facilities, as well as the sales, engineering, and office administration personnel.
