ECD has announced that its new Guide to Quality Control of the Automated Solder Process is now available. This 16 page Guide will provide users with important information about Classic PCB Temperature Profiling as well as how to maintain a wave or reflow solder machine in "factory-new" condition.
"This is the first, truly comprehensive literature I have seen for PCB profiling," said ECD Vice President, Andy Becker. "Our goal was to create a piece of literature that both clearly explains the benefits of temperature profiling to the novice, and still deals with the important subtleties that more experienced users are looking for. I think we have achieved this and more."
The ECD guide covers the evolution of temperature profiling: From classic PCB profiling, through machine quality management, to the latest cutting edge systems that automatically set-up and manage reflow ovens. There's also a special section that details the use of statistical process control (SPC)techniques monitoring process trends and identifying out-of-control situations before they adversely affect the quality PCB assemblies.
ECD, Inc. has been designing and manufacturing process monitoring and control products since 1964. With the introduction of the first M.O.L.E. (r) profiler in the 1980's, ECD pioneered the concept of classic PCB profiling using a self-contained traveling instrument. Since then, ECD's Classic PCB Profiling line has expanded to cover the need for accurate thermal profiling of PCB's in both the wave and reflow automated solder processes.
ECD's WaveRIDER(r) and OvenRIDER(r) first made it possible to perform machine quality management and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) over a wide variety of reflow oven and wave machine parameters. In 1999 ECD's AutoM.O.L.E. (r) became the first profiling system to allow automatic uploading of machine parameters directly into ECD's profiling software.
Released in 2001, AutoM.O.L.E. Xpert-equipped reflow soldering machines provide a means for engineers to design robust target profiles for their products, ovens and solder pastes. For the oven operator, the ECD suggests that the Xpert System provides an easy way to automatically set-up the oven for a particular assembly and automatically verify its performance.
Through this collection of products an innovation, ECD has taken the lead in thermal profiling for over a decade and ECD products are currently in use by virtually every one of the world's top 100 electronic manufacturers.
The ECD Guide to QC Monitoring covers all of these important technologies, including SPC software, product specifications, tools and accessories, and process control tips and suggestions.
"If you are serious about the quality of your PCB manufacturing processes," said Becker, "then you'll get serious about temperature profiling."
