"With the Frost and Sullivan calculated market share between 13.5 percent and 14.5 percent of the total SMT inspection equipment market, Agilent is the leading supplier in the SMT inspection equipment," said Raman Monga, Frost & Sullivan industry analyst. "Solutions by Agilent address limited access test, in-system programming, Bluetooth and wireless networking, fixturing, and lead-free processes. Agilent maintains a technology edge over its competitors by consistently investing resources in research and development to anticipate and fulfill the future needs of the SMT industry."
In addition to the product line award, Frost & Sullivan's Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Electronic Components group has awarded its Product of the Year award for 2003 to the Agilent 5DX Series 5000 Automated X-ray Inspection (AXI) system. The 5DX -- system can detect up to 90 percent of all physical manufacturing defects quickly and precisely. Measurements taken by the 5DX provide extensive defect and process control data, enabling test engineers to efficiently and economically fix defects and make changes to avoid producing additional defects.
"Agilent is pleased to receive these two honors from Frost & Sullivan. Our innovative manufacturing test solutions address the industry's primary challenge of lowering the overall cost of test in printed-circuit boards," said David Kent, acting vice president and general manager of Agilent's Manufacturing Test Business Unit Agilent Technologies. "These awards are the latest in a series of industry endorsements for Agilent's winning products in the electronics manufacturing industry."
