What is 3D and 2D?

3D is three-dimensional imaging, 2D refers to two-dimensional imaging, 3D contains x, y and z axis, 2D only contains x and y axis, so from the above expression we can see that 3d can view the surface and longitudinal information of the object, while 2D can only view the surface of the object.

In summary, the essential difference between 3D AOI and 2D AOI is the vertical imaging difference. Although there is only one vertical imaging difference, in the SMT production process, there may be significant differences in the quality of welding inspection for some products, especially for IC bending and warping of some pins and false soldering at the bottom of electronic components. 2D AOI inspection will be difficult to detect. With the increasing application of small components and ICs, 3D AOI detection is unstoppable.
